Mickler's Cove

Visiting Mickler's Cove was such a treat today.
Invited by a special friend, I didn't partake in the water festivities but enjoyed the scenery.
How I missed the beach.

As I walked down the boardwalk to the beach, the view was breathtaking. Who knew a falling down fence could be so beautiful with the breaking waves in the background.

The sea oats seemed to blow to some unspoken tune.
If only I had my iPod, I could find a song to fit it perfectly.
God is good.

Ready...

"Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live." - Dorothy Thompson

As I was reading Real Simple in bed tonight, I came across this quote. People constantly ask if I am afraid of going to the Middle East. Seeing everything on the news, everyone is bombarded with images of scary things. But I see this as an adventure, a life experience like no other, I guess, a time to begin life.

Jacksonville Bound

The move from Tallahassee to Jacksonville was sad but needed in the step by step process of moving overseas. Packing up was a slow tedious process as I inventoried every box making an Excel spreadsheet, meticulously writing the number and room on every side of every box, worried if I needed to find something, this would somehow help me or my loved ones. But as we packed up the 10 x 15 storage space, I quickly realized the boxes would not be opened and/or found if needed. We stacked boxes practically to the ceiling to take advantage of “vertical space” and as we stuffed it in like a Tetris game, I let go. This was all just stuff. The things I will need while in Jordan could be purchased while there and the things I would miss from Tallahassee were really moments, feelings, and a sense of serenity in a location. It feels so nice to have everything stored and “put away”. The finality has finally sunk in. Another check on the long and ever growing checklist. Now onto the next item, packing our suitcases.

I didn’t think it would be hard to pack two suitcases but packing them to a certain weight including everything you “think” you will need for a year is quite a feat. I of course had to have this shirt and that shirt, this book and that book, this picture and that picture, but as I piled it into the suitcase I noticed a problem…I have too much stuff. So now it is time to filter and fine tune.

Wish me luck!

Packing

Just got back from another trip to get more boxes. It is amazing how much stuff we have...

Open box, tape box, fill box, tape box closed, REPEAT.

Family Farewell

Traveling down to Tampa to say goodbye to family was full of mixed feelings. I was so happy to see them, enjoyed catching up and seeing the new additions to the family, but alas, very sad to say goodbye. I am very blessed to have such a loving and caring family members. Of course they are aprehensive about the trip but are excited about the new adventure. Please know I love each and every one of you!
